The SL4500 crawler crane was recently used in moving a vessel that weighed 202.5 tons.
With our large and diversified fleet of resources, Sterett Crane and Rigging supplied the project with multiple types of equipment, all operated by our highly skilled and experienced team. Besides the SL4500 crawler crane, the move required 16 lines of platform trailers, 800-ton gantries and a teleboom forklift.
The SL4500 was used as a tall crane to lay the vessel on the platform trailers, whose low deck height and exceptional maneuverability were key to transporting the vessel along a route with tight turns and overhead pipe racks. The vessel was relocated to the laydown yard where it was offloaded by our 800-ton gantries.
Sterett Crane and Rigging operators worked closely with the contractor, plant engineers and safety personnel to successfully moving the vessel to its intended destination.

Sterett adds heavy-lifting cranes to its fleet
Sterett Cranes and Rigging recently added to its fleet with the purchase of two Kobelco SL4500 crawler cranes.
Kobelco's SL4500 crawler crane was designed from the ground up for reliable operation, convenient maintenance and easy transport. The SL4500 features a mast-mounted boom hoist winch and boom-mounted hoist winches to minimize the labor associated with assembly and disassembly and to reduce the transportation weight. This machine also features advanced safety devices; a wide, comfortable cab with excellent visibility; and high structural strength with reduced weight to give the SL4500 superb lifting capacities.
The SL4500 crawler crane has a maximum lift capacity of 440 US tons x 18 feet, with a maximum boom length of 315 feet. The maximum boom + jib length is 256 feet + 217 feet. The two cranes in the Sterett fleet are available at their maximum configuration. Sterett Cranes and Rigging has operators available to run all of our equipment, including these new crawler cranes.
